| Research Abstract |
It is crucial to precisely and correctly evaluate severity of mental injury in victims or plaintiffs in law court. But the task is quite difficult, for they unconsciously, or sometimes consciously complaint "too much" . We tried here to establish the measuring method for PTSD, of which results are hardly distorted by testees' wanting. First we focused our attention on MMPI and its subscale named PK scale (Keane,T.M., et. al.,1984). In our 55 cases including 36 patients with PTSD, both were found to be efficacious for diagnosing PTSD, and then we developed the M-PTSD Index, a simple arithmetic discriminant formula consists of some regular clinical scores of MMPI.
Next we investigated the nature of stated symptoms in simulated or "fabricated" patients in order to identify the "true" PTSD patients. Statements of simulated patients were more unstable and changeable over a couple of weeks than those of true patients
