Outline of Final Research Achievements

The purpose of this project is to examine the socialist modernization culture in the northeast Asia.Particular attention was paid to North Korea while comparing it with other socialist countries such as the Soviet Union and China.We collected publications and public image related to revolutionary, combatants, leaders, workers, women, children and antiheroes,and tried to elucidate structure of the national narrative.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

DPRKの公的刊行物や公共イメージは、一般的にプロパガンダとして物笑いの種になったり、学術的論考に値しないと切り捨てられる傾向にあった。他方、ソ連研究では公的言説やプロパガンダは文化的構築物として学術的な研究対象となってきた。そこで、ソ連・中国の事例を参照しながら、ナショナルな物語として比較検討した。
朝鮮問題研究センターと協力して、連続講座や研究会をオープンに開催することで、日本人研究者と在日朝鮮人研究者との間で、分野横断的な研究者コミュニティの創出を図りながら、最終年度には成果報告書として論文集『社会主義の文化的景観：DPRK、ソ連、中国』を刊行することで、研究の成果を社会的にも還元をした。
