Outline of Final Research Achievements

This study tried to reveal the structure of meaning making processes following stressful experiences from the view point of "network" by depicting the network chart. In Study 1, 121 men and women who ranged from 20's to 60's depicted the network chart of their past stressful experience. As a result, the person who replied "I made meaning" pictured a process before the event leading to solution and tended to include the node of positive contents. In Study 2, we examined the influence of the description of the network chart on meaning making for a total of 404 men and women who ranged from 20's to 60's. The experimental group, which was requested to depict the chart, was compared between control group, but the effect of the description was not seen.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements
