Outline of Final Research Achievements |
I tried to clarify the relationship between Verne and Proust, which has hardly been considered before, mainly from the viewpoint of art and progressivism. By comparing the novel works of the two and examining them together with the drafts and other contemporary documents, I pointed out the importance of the discussion concerning the realist painter Millet, and also the academic painters Leon Bonnat and Jean-Leon Gerome. The historical scope of this discussion was at last clarified, and for the first time, I succeeded in capturing the signification of the literary texts in a perfect manner.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
