Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
The arsenic leaching potential in excavated soils were investigated using sequential leaching tests and the relevant mechanisms were discussed. The feasibility of using a new concept, the pollution potential leaching index to evaluate arsenic leaching risk was studied. A five-step sequential leaching test with an L/S of 10 L/kg at each step, combined with a logarithmic function fitting was suggested for the easy estimation of pollution potential leaching index.

Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
2: Research has progressed on the whole more than it was originally planned.
Reason
My preliminary research in 2016 had already laid a very good foundation for my work in 2017. A systematic study had been smoothly conducted for the arsenic leaching potential. The work in this year was intensive and expected results were achieved. In addition, scientific and helpful guidance was provided by my supervisor. I had published one paper and attended an international conference.

Strategy for Future Research Activity |
The feasibility of pollution potential leaching index (PPLI) for the rapid judgment of the arsenic leaching risk from excavated soils was investigated. However, the knowledge of its standardization is limited. So it is important to investigate the preliminary standardization of PPLI concept. Moreover, I will investigate the As sources in these excavated soils, which will provide insights into the scientific management of this soils in the future.
