Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

忠臣蔵初期実録については、これまでは明治期の『赤穂義人纂書』によっていたのであったが、本研究によりそれらを見直し、更に２作品を重要作と認定し、それに『介石記』を加え、綿密な諸本研究を施し、これらを比較研究をして良質な校訂本文を決定し、これに解題的基礎研究を進め、あわせて公刊して、斯界や社会に還元したことは、学術的意味や社会的意義が大きいものと認定される。これによって、忠臣蔵像の創出・形成の解明が確実に進歩したのである。
