Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
This year we focused on data analysis in all three areas of our project (student motivation, teacher characteristics and corpus analysis). We were focused on validating our research methods and seeking input from other researchers about our experimental design and analysis plan. We also made preparations for additional data collection for the last year of our project.

Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
3: Progress in research has been slightly delayed.
Reason
In the past year two members of our project have moved to a different institution. This slowed down the progress of our project this year, however we are making plans to get the project back on track this year.
|
Strategy for Future Research Activity |
1. Student motivation: We will collect data from a larger sample of students and complete the statistical analysis of the data. Teacher Characteristics: We will continue interviews with teachers and expand the analysis to include new faculty who have recently joined our department. 3. Corpus Analysis: We are continuing analysis of the student paper corpus. We expect to publish and present our results this year.
|
Causes of Carryover |
This year, not all members of our project were able to attend conferences to present their result as planned. We are planning several trips to conferences to present our results in the coming year. We will also use funds for data collection and to hire research assistants to assist in some aspects of our research.
