Outline of Final Research Achievements

This research inquires into various aspects of correlation among “education,” “philosophy,” and “politics” in the history of educational thoughts in Japan in the modern age. It is conducted through both interviewing researchers in education and studying documents concerning the Kyoto-school and the postwar pedagogy. Specifically, (1) I interview researchers who have connections with KATSUTA Shuichi or UMENE Satoru, representatives of the postwar pedagogy, and (2) I study documents concerning the Kyoto-school (NISHIDA Kitaro, AMANO Teiyu, KIMURA Motomori, and MORI Akira) and the postwar pedagogy. Through this research, I clarify various aspects of the Kyoto-school and the postwar pedagogy, which cannot be judged solely within the context of political conflict.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

本研究は、次の二つの点で学術的・社会的意義を持つものと考えられる。第一には、教育学研究者へのインタビューにより教育学分野の新たなテクストを創出した点である。これは近年の学界の動向とも呼応するものであるが、勝田守一や梅根悟に関する貴重な証言を得ることができた。第二には、近年発展の目覚ましい研究分野である京都学派教育学と、いわゆる戦後教育学とを架橋する端緒を築きつつある点である。両者は概してその政治性をめぐって対立的に捉えられるが、本研究を通じて図式的な割り切りを許さない諸相を明らかにしてきた。
