Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
This year I was able to study more in depth about university and national international education policy related to international students. I was able to collect interview data to help guide my research questions and understand the differences in particular contexts. This year I focused on student support centres/community; employment recruiters. I was able to visit libraries and conduct interviews at universities in: Florida and Hawaii USA: Christchurch, New Zealand; and Singapore. Visiting these diverse locations has provided a rich understanding of how policy is implemented differently and how the priorities of support potentially lead to success, especially in relation to Japan. It is clear that although international students are motivated to study at quality universities, attention must be paid to industry and integration if international students are expected to stay in the host country.

2: Research has progressed on the whole more than it was originally planned.
Reason
Although I have not been able to disseminate research this FY, I have been able to further my research.
|
Strategy for Future Research Activity |
This year I plan to visit Canada, to publish journal articles on my findings, as well as present my findings at conferences.
|
Causes of Carryover |
I was not able to submit all the necessary documents and paperwork for my research activities this year. Therefore, the expenses were deferred to the next fiscal year.
