| Research Abstract |
2004年12月に発生したインド洋大津波および2007年4月に発生したソロモン諸島での津波による被害地を調査し、津波に対する海岸林の被害軽減効果を検証した。その結果、海岸林による漂流物の移動の阻止、津波の波力の減殺、よじ登り・すがりつき効果が確認できた。さらに、被害軽減効果と海岸林の組成や構造は海岸地形に大きく依存していることから、地形を考慮した海岸林の保全が津波被害軽減に有効であることがわかった。
