| Research Abstract |
熱帯泥炭湿地は深刻な炭素排出源である一方、有望な潜在的炭素吸収源である。このような国際的要請に応え、近い将来に、各国政府・国際機関、営利・非営利団体が、熱帯泥炭湿地における炭素固定能の回復を含む総合的環境修復活動を開始するにあたって準拠でき、しかも中長期的な指針も打ち出せるような、理論的裏づけを伴った標準的生態系管理手法を提出することを本研究の目的とする。
インドネシア、中央カリマンタン州の泥炭湿地林地域の、カハヤン川右岸下流域、セバンガウ川左岸下流域、セバンガウ川右岸下流域に設置した、植生タイプ、住民の利用度などがことなる3つの調査地および周辺の泥炭湿地林地域を含めて、以下の各調査・研究をおこなう。
(1) 泥炭蓄積モデルの発展と検証,
(2) 湿地林で使える多変量アロメトリー式等の提出,
(3) 温室効果ガス収支の水位・植生依存性,
(4) 硫酸酸性地帯の土壌・水質改良,
(5) 効果的な水位回復工事に必要な水文学的研究,
(6) リーケージ(社会的悪影響)を回避する方法の開発
