Research Abstract

都市化に伴う水質汚染や、地球温暖化による海水温度上昇よって沖縄のサンゴ礁は衰退の危機にある。本研究では、持続的なサンゴ礁の修復・保全技術開発を目指して、サンゴの自己修復能力を高める物理的要因(環境因子)と生物的要因(環境応答)を学際的アプローチによって明らかにすることを目的とした。本研究の実施の結果、高温による最初の代謝異常の特定、サンゴの骨格内微生物相の違いが環境ストレス耐性に寄与していること、サンゴ種によって、温度と光の複合ストレスの感受性が異なっていること、水面の波や水流などの物理的要因がサンゴの白化抑制と回復に寄与していること等が明らかとなった。これらの成果は、サンゴの健康状態の診断や、水工土木的なサンゴ礁回復技術の基礎となる知見である。
