Research Abstract |
We conducted research focus on Buddhist statues that were made for a memorial service, that is "ONTAME NO ZOZO" in Japanese. This kind of motivation for making statues is based on not only Buddhism but also Confucianism in eastern Asia. We surveyed such works mainly in China, compared their expression with Japanese, and published the research journal includes three essays.
