| Research Abstract |
小笠原諸島南硫黄島は国内で最も謎に満ちた地であり、山頂部を含めた学術調査は過去2回実施されただけである。そこで2007年6月に東京都との合同で南硫黄島自然環境調査を25年ぶりに実施し、生物多様性の現状を把握すると共に、植物の集団遺伝学的・分子系統学的解析に基づく種分化過程の推定などを試みた。その結果、小笠原諸島に広く分布する種の場合、南硫黄島個体群は遺伝的に大きく分化していることなどが明らかとなった。
