Outline of Annual Research Achievements

2018年度はLaAlO3組成のペロブスカイト結晶中のCr3+またはCe3+イオンからの励起3dや5dエネルギー準位からの持続的エネルギー移動を利用することにより,Ho3+イオン(波長1.2 um)とEr3+イオン(1.5 um)の4f-4f電子遷移に基づく近赤外長残光を実現することに成功した.
これらの発光波長は,生体窓における第2窓(1.0-1.35 μm)と第3窓(1.5-1.8 μm)に相当しているため,1.0μmを超える長波長による,高分解能で深部観察可能なインヴィヴォイメージングの可能性を切り開く成果である.
長残光蛍光体に関する我々(代表者田部と特別研究員Xuの)2名連名による招待総説論文が Journal of Luminescence, 205 (2019) 581-620.(Elsevier出版)に出版された.
とりわけ,最近我々が開発した,波長1000 nmを超える長波長域における長残光蛍光を初めて紹介した.その成果とはガーネット結晶中における Nd3+ イオン(1.06 μm)とEr3+ イオン(1.53 μm)の長残光蛍光であり,可視域で残光性能を示すCe3+イオンからの持続的エネルギー移動を巧みに利用することにより,発光中心として原子価3価が極めて安定で,光イオン化が起こらない,Nd3+,Er3+両イオンにおいて,近赤外波長域で長残光を実現したという成果である.

2: Research has progressed on the whole more than it was originally planned.

Reason

The relationship between host phonon energy and electron trapping centers was found to play important roles of the Ho3+ PersL in LaAlO3/LaGaO3 perovskites, which gives a new insight into the design concept of persistent phosphors working in the NIR-II/III regions, especially targeting for the “desirable” electromagnetic transition (e.g., Ho3+: 5I6→5I8 at 1.2 μm) instead of the “undesirable” one (e.g., Ho3+: 5I7→5I8 at 2.0 μm). These results demonstrated in the flexible ABX3 perovskites could give a vivid example to choose suitable material hosts, electron trapping centers and energy donor-acceptor combinations toward long PersL in the NIR region (>1000 nm).

Strategy for Future Research Activity

2018年度の成果に基づき,2019年度は二つのテーマを推進する予定である.
近赤外長残光を示す蛍光体組成で,ガーネット,ペロブスカイトナノ結晶を合成し,粒径分布やゼータ電位を含む,ナノ粒子の微細構造を調査,また試料の蛍光,励起,反射率スペクトル,蛍光寿命の温度依存性,残光減衰曲線を測定する.
ナノ蛍光プローブを用いて,共同研究チームと共同でマウスを用いた第2,第3生体窓波長でのインヴィヴォイメ-ジング実験を行い,細胞耐性,毒性と併せ,生体プローブとしての実用性を評価する.
