Outline of Final Research Achievements

ARICA project started in 2018 to demonstrate a real-time alert system of transient astrophysical sources using commercial satellite networks. We conducted the satellite's design, development, and various environmental tests over three years. ARICA was successfully launched by JAXA's Epsilon rocket#5 on November 2021. However, communication with ARICA has not been established since the launch. We start the recovery mission of ARICA, ARICA-2, and are aiming to launch in two or three years.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

いち大学で衛星の設計、製造、そして、引き渡しまで達成する事ができた事は大きな成果であった。残念ながら、ARICA はおそらく衛星のトラブルで衛星の運用ができていない状況だが、衛星を安全に製作し、JAXA へ引き渡せたという事が大学の研究室で可能という事をしっかりと内外へアピールできた。ARICA の開発中は衛星開発の様子をSNS などで積極的に発信したため、青山学院大学で衛星開発をしているという事が広く認知され、社会的意義も非常に大きかったと認識している。
