ハイブリッドフォトニック結晶ファイバによる中赤外高コヒーレント光の発生

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

・カルコゲナイド光ファイバを用い,帯域幅が2~15 μmに広がる中赤外スーパーコンティニューム(SC)光を確認したが,コヒーレンスが低下しており,その原因が異常分散領域に発生したSC光の成分が変調不安定性によるノイズの増幅を起こすことであることを明らかにした.コヒーレンスの向上を図るため,広い正常分散領域を実現できる光ファイバ構造を探索し,ダブルクラッドファイバを考案し,当該ファイバの作製に成功して帯域幅が2~14 μmに広がる広帯域中赤外高コヒーレントSC光の発生に世界で初めて成功した.さらにSCの広帯域化が図れるファイバ構造の探索を進めた.
・テルライト光ファイバの中赤外光領域においてファイバ分散曲線が分散値零で平坦になるファイバ構造の最適化を行った.その結果,中赤外領域においてファイバ分散曲線が分散値零付近で平坦になる波長域が最も広くなることを明らかにし,当該光ファイバを作製して,1~5μmの波長域でSC光が発生できることを実証した.
・テルライトガラスは,中赤外光領域で高い光透過性を持つため中赤外用光導波デバイスへの応用が期待できる.テルライト反共振型中空コア光ファイバの作製に成功し,中赤外光を反共振反射効果により伝搬することが確認した.当該ファイバは中赤外用光導波デバイスへの応用が期待できることを明らかにした.
・光イメージ伝送デバイスが注目を集めている. 高い赤外透過率を持つテルライトガラスを材料とすることにより,これまで実現されていない赤外イメージ伝送を実現することを目指した.テルライトガラスを用いたランダム断面構造光ファイバ中で光を局在化させる構造を設計し, 実現に初めて成功した. 作製した光ファイバを用いて赤外光で赤外イメージ伝送の確認に成功し,テルライトランダム断面構造光ファイバが赤外イメージ伝送デバイスへ応用が期待できることを初めて示した.

Reason

カルコゲナイド光ファイバを用いてこれまでにない広帯域な高コヒーレント中赤外SCの発生に初めて成功した. さらに,当初予定していなかったテルライト反共振型中空コア光ファイバやテルライトランダム断面構造光ファイバを初めて実現して,テルライト光ファイバの新たな応用領域を拡大できた.これらの成果は、カルコゲナイド光ファイバやテルライト光ファイバの新たな可能性を示すものであり,今後の研究展開の発展に大きく資するものであると考える.

Strategy for Future Research Activity

PCF構造と波長分散特性の相関に関する解析結果を基に,近赤外域励起による中赤外領域での高コヒーレント光の発生を実証する.さらに,研究成果を高効率広帯域波長変換や広帯域パラメトリック増幅,さらには低雑音相関光子対生成等への応用への展開を目指す.そのために下記の項目の研究を推進する.
・PCF素材候補としてAsSeS系ガラスを用い,波長分散が制御された多層コア構造ハイブリッドPCFを実現する.ガラスの組成を調整することにより,各層間の屈折率差も制御できる.このガラスはSeとSの組成比を変えることにより,0.5以上の屈折率差が実現でき,多層コア構造のハイブリッドPCFの素材として使用できる.組成による屈折率分散の変化を測定しつつ,最適組成を見極め,高コヒーレント光発生のための波長分散特性を有するハイブリッドPCFを実現する.最適組成を見極め,高コヒーレント光発生のための波長分散特性を有する多層コア構造のハイブリッドPCFを実現する.さらにテルライトガラスも用いて波長分散が制御された多層コア構造ハイブリッドPCFを実現する.
・カルコゲナイドハイブリッドPCF構造の持つ自由度の高い波長分散特性の制御性により,四光波混合を用いて結晶では実現できない超広帯域波長変換を目指す.1から2μmの近赤外光パルスや光周波数コムを実現したPCFに入射させ、20μmの中赤外域まで及ぶこれまでに実現されていない狭帯域高コヒーレント光や広帯域コヒーレント光発生の実現を目指す.
