Outline of Final Research Achievements

The main purpose of this study was to develop a learning program to foster the ability to flexibly interpret the intentions of others' utterances and actions by working on metacognition, aiming at preventing misunderstanding. The following results were obtained: 1) the IPE condition was superior to the control condition; 2) the IPE condition was superior to the simple repetition condition for participants with low intention interpretation skills; 3) the effect of the IPE condition appeared after a certain number of trials. 3) The effect of IPE emerged after a certain number of trials.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

本研究によって意図解釈力を高める学習(トレーニング)におけるIPEの効果と単純反復の効果を分離することができ,成績の向上が単なる反復ではなくIPEを伴った反復によってもたらされることが示された。この結果は,IPE効果に関する研究知見の蓄積という点において学術的意義が認められる。また,意図解釈の幅がもともと狭かった参加者においてIPEを繰り返すことで意図解釈力の向上が顕著であったことから,教育実践への活用が期待できる点に社会的意義が認められる。
