Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
This year focused on the interaction of ions with C-S-H and C-A-S-H. Two types of experiment were conducted: to develop model and to verify the model. Although the proposal included the investigation of absorption and exchange, the research work focused on adsorption as the dominant mechanism for incorporation of cations and anions. A triple-layer surface complexation model was developed, and the associated equilibrium constants for deprotonation, calcium and chloride adsorption were determined by fitting experimental data of potentiometric titration and zeta potential measurement results. The estimated surface complexation modelling parameters were verified by predicting the experimental data of calcium and chloride adsorption on the synthesised C-S-H and C-A-S-H gel.

Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
2: Research has progressed on the whole more than it was originally planned.
Reason
I focused on calcium and chloride ions and could not consider Na+, K+ and Cs+, which will be consider next year.
|
Strategy for Future Research Activity |
WP 6: Chloride ingress, sulfate ingress, and alkali silica reaction experiments in slag containing paste
WP7: Development and verification of integrated thermodynamic model
|
Causes of Carryover |
I spent less money on renting equipment for experiments. I will use it in this year for employing part-time student to help experiment.
