Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Polyphenols are potent antioxidants that exist primarily as glycosides in plants. Glycosides show various pharmacological effects such as anti-inflammatory and antitumor effects in our body despite low membrane permeability based on their physicochemical properties, thereby implicating a possible involvement of specific transporters. In this study, we constructed a simple assay system for the intracellular uptake of glycosides and evaluated functional characteristics of glucoside transport.
