Outline of Final Research Achievements

In this study, in order to reexamine the significance of kohaikai in the history of Japanese literature, I conducted basic research of kohaikai and utilized the research results for the study of premodern and early modern Japanese literature. The main results include: (1) An annotated bibliography of kohaikai-books; (2) Transcription of kohaikai-books with searchable full-text data; (3) Basic research of Kurokawa Doyu's travel diaries; (4) An annotation of Haikai ruisenshu and its utilization for close reading of premodern and early modern Japanese texts; (5) New interpretations of Basho's literary works; (6) Clarification of meaning of words not included in existing dictionaries. The above results generated three journal articles and one academic presentation.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements
