Outline of Final Research Achievements

(a) The first study discusses the interchangeability of three self-report measures for reading anxiety. Despite their differences in target constructs, the three scales have been used for similar lines of research. The author reaches the conclusion that the scales are non-interchangeable with one another.
(b) While foreign language (FL) reading anxiety (FLRA) has been treated as a unique construct, the possibility that FLRA is only a subset of the test anxiety (TA) construct has long been ignored. The second study was done to obtain a clear picture on this topic. The test results confirmed the independence of FLRA from TA.
(c) The most intriguing result of the third study was that the majority of the participants had experienced anxiety in situations where they lacked an effective strategy to solve given reading tasks.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements
