Outline of Final Research Achievements

This research aimed to clarify the political position of the Oku-Yuhitsu in the political management of the Edo Shogunate, and to advance the elucidation of the power structure of the Shogunate.　I made a research report on "Toritugi", which connects the shogunate and the clan, and "Roju-taikyaku", which is the act of the clan and Hatamoto negotiating with Roju.　I made it clear that the analysis of the political structure of the Edo Shogunate requires consideration from the perspective of the clan.
In addition, I have obtained historical materials that were not known in the past, and have clarified the actual situation of the duties of Oku-Yuhitsu from the analysis.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

本研究は江戸幕府の政治構造を具体的に解明することを課題としている。江戸幕府は３００年近い期間、安定した政治構造を維持することに成功した政権である。かつては江戸幕府の支配は軍事的・強圧的な力を用いて民衆を抑圧していたと理解されていたが、近年では社会の要求に柔軟に応えることに成功していたことが解明されている。
本研究の意義は、江戸時代の日本を構成していた政治組織である藩の要求に幕府がどのように対応していたのかを、具体的な政治過程や政治交渉を通じて解明したことである。
