Outline of Annual Research Achievements

日英の高齢者を対象にした大規模疫学調査として、ELSA（English Longtidinal Survey of Ageing）は2002年以降2年おきに約1万人前後の高齢者を対象に調査データを蓄積している（Wave 1～8）。 一方、JAGES（日本老年学的評価研究：Japan Gerontological Evaluation Study）では、2010年以降3年おきに10万人以上の要介護認定を受けていない高齢者を対象にした質問紙調査を実施している（Wave1～3）。
本研究では、両調査の個票データを用いて、日英間で(1)孤立状態に陥る高齢者の基本属性（性別や年齢、教育年数や職業歴、経済状況や住環境等など）に相違があるのか、(2)高齢者の社会的孤立が死亡や身体機能等の健康状態へ及ぼす影響に相違があるのか、(3) 社会的孤立によって健康喪失した高齢者数（集団寄与危険度）はどの程度なのか、(4) 社会的孤立の予防・軽減にむけた社会環境要因にはどのようなものがあるのか、検討した。
これまでに整備された日英高齢者のコホートデータおよびパネルデータに基づいて、高齢者の社会的孤立の発現率の推移（時代効果・コホート効果）の相違、高齢者の社会的孤立の特性や死亡との関連の相違、高齢者の社会的孤立と健康行動（喫煙行動や口腔保健）、身体的・精神的健康との関連を解析し、日英間での共通点・相違点を考察した。2019年度に渡英した際に収集した情報を踏まえ、2019年度に実施したJAGES調査（Wave4）を実施し、分担研究者と協働して日英比較研究の論文化を進めた。
