Research Abstract |
The major results of this research project can be summed up as follows : 1. By focusing on parody, a problem which has not been given a due consideration until present, the project highlighted its importance, and worked out a research methodology ; 2. By the analysis of various aspects and manifestations of parody in Japanese Culture the project succeeded in extending the boundaries of parody research : to the texts already acknowledged as parody it added new texts and genres which should be considered as parody, thus opening new horizons for academic research ; 3. Through the analysis of the function and the role of parody in the development of Japanese Culture the project revealed some of the basic characteristics of Japanese Culture concerning the pattern of signification, the mechanism of quotation, and the transmission of cultural tradition.
