Research Abstract |
The change detection in flicker paradigm has been examined by glaucoma and pigmentary retinal degeneration with defect of visual field. The target is changed in color and orientation. It was shown that the result of the change detection was influenced by aging and the size of visual field defect. When observers search a changed target, the eye movement differs with limited size of visual field of observers. The eye movement of glaucoma and pigmentary retinal degeneration is similar to visual field of 4゜to 8゜in observers without visual field defect. Moreover, the reaction time in visual change detection is shorter than that in tactile change detection. Based on the reaction time in various size of visual field , tactile field was estimated. As the results, the tactile ield was approximately 0.5゜.In the dual task, luminance and color contrast sensitivity was measured under various eccentricity of retina. Luminance and color contrast sensitivity with RSVP were decreased with the increase of eccentricity. Furthermore, older observers show lower contrast sensitivity than younger adult observers in color contrast sensitivity. On the other hand, patterns involving the three dimensional information are presented to congenitally and adventitiously blind persons. It was shown that the congenitally blind persons can not perceive the three dimensional information in haptic mode, but the adventitiously blind persons can perceive in haptic mode. These findings imply that visual experiences play an important role in order to perceive tactile patterns. Furthermore, it was found that visual readability and attention are important in comfort of the underground space. On the other hand, voting system have been developed by using a divided images cryptography technology.
