| Research Abstract |
This study examined female migration in Asia in the form of both live-in domestic workers and cross border mariages. The trajectories of foreign domestic workers show that she tends to migrate not only to one destination country but also several ones. As for the cross border marriages, we interviewed both marriage agencies as well as those women who got married through agencies, and those who find husband while working in abroad as domestic workers. Those married though agencies and those who changed the status from domestic workers to foreign wives in destination countries revealed the some similarities such as high priority of remittances for the kin left home and expectation of better lives for themselves.
