| Research Abstract |
In this study, the woman authorship in the Weimar Republic was analyzed from the context of the mass urban culture. The urban popular culture of Berlin in the Weimar era provided women writers with more freedom and possibility in their writing. In order to expand their readership, the publishing industry needed woman writers. Among these, there appeared some who portrayed the reality of urban female white-collar workers who represented the ideal image of the "New Woman" of the era. The marked increase in the number of women writers in the Weimar period resulted in the popularization of literature. This led to the literary discovery of the world of woman, but, on the other hand, led to a new gender structure in the field of literature.
