Research Abstract |
This textlinguistic study provides a new approach to "ellipsis phenomena", which occur with different frequency among languages. The general findings from the investigation are as follows: 1. The ellipsis phenomena result from different strategies for reference in the text, deixis and anaphor. They are realized language specifically. 2. These strategies determine not only occurrences of the ellipsis phenomena, but also the whole grammatical structure of the language concerned.
