Research Abstract

植物の葉緑体はバクテリアの共生を起源とするため, 様々なバクテリア型の制御システムが働いている. 我々は, これまでに葉緑体がバクテリア型の緊縮制御と呼ばれる翻訳や転写の制御機構を有することが示してきた. この緊縮制御を引き起こす物質はppGppという核酸である. 本研究では, 植物の葉緑体がカルシウム濃度依存的にppGpp を合成する酵素を有することをタンパク質レベルで証明し, 本酵素遺伝子をCRSH (Calcium-activatedRelA SpoT Homolog) と命名し, 研究成果を世界に先駆けて報告した.
