| Research Abstract |
バタリーおよび福祉ケージ各2つの飼育密度、平飼およびそれに野外放飼場を付設した鶏舎の計6システムに供試鶏を収容し、2年間にわたって多面的に比較した。鶏の行動、生理・免疫反応および生産性等の結果、および国内外の文献から、新たな福祉評価法を提起した。それにより、小型福祉ケージの利点を明らかにするとともに、砂浴び場などの利用を巡る争いを避けるよう、これら資源をケージの左右に分散した改良福祉ケージを考案し、その有用性を示した。
