Outline of Annual Research Achievements

AFmはAFtに相変化することが一部の予備試験からわかっていたので、放射性核種モデルイオンであるI-, IO3-, SeO42-, SeO32-, TcO4-のいずれかが陰イオンとしてAfmにとりこまれているときのAftへの相変化について実験的に調べた。AFm1モルには4モルの構造水が含まれ(2モルは自由水、2モルはCa原子に配位)ているが、この数および配位状態は陰イオンの価数には影響を受けていなかった。IO3-のように水和度は高いが一価の陰イオンはAFmからAftへの相変化を幇助せず、二価の陰イオンだけがAFmからAftへの相変化を幇助した。一価の陰イオンはAFmの層間距離を一定に維持し、二価の陰イオンはAFmの層間距離を有意に拡張し、Aftへの相変化に移行した。DFT計算(convex hull energy calculation)によれば、一価の陰イオンはAFm中のほうがAft中よりもより安定であり、一方二価の陰イオンはAFt中のほうがAfm中よりもエネルギー的に安定であることが自由エネルギー計算から推定された。このことはAFmからのAftへの相変化をコントロールする本質的で重要な因子と考えられる。つまり、構造水の多い陰イオンはAFmの層間距離を拡張しやすく、自由水がCa原子に配位し、AFmからAftに相変化を促しやすく、一方構造水のより少ない陰イオンは、AFmの中にとどまる傾向が強いと推察される。
そのほか、2020年度計画のアミノ酸分子数種のSeO42-(Se(VI))をとりこんだAFmの安定性への影響について前倒しで検討を行った。分子サイズの小さなアミノ酸、2当量のカルボキシル基をもつアミノ酸はとくにAFm中のSeO42-を不安定化することが明らかであった。一部のアミノ酸分子はAFmの層間に入りこみ、層間距離を拡張していること、そのためにSeO42-は溶出することがわかった。アミノ酸分子はさまざまな配座が可能であるが、安定な配座を第一原理計算により調べ、観測されたX線回折結果と整合するものであるかどうかを調査中である。

Reason

2020年度計画のアミノ酸による影響、2021年度計画のジオポリマーによる固定化の検討は前倒しで並行して始めている。ジオポリマーに関して今年度すでに4報の論文を公表している。また、フライアッシュセメント硬化体中の陰イオン性有害イオンの安定固化に関しても検討を進め、すでに3報の論文を公表している。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

2020年度にはアミノ酸分子数種のSeO42-をとりこんだAFmの安定性への影響、およびI-をとりこんだAFmの安定性への影響を明らかにする。第一原理計算の専門家を新たに研究分担者として加えて、アミノ酸分子を取り込んだAFmの層間距離を説明するアミノ酸分子の立体配座を明らかにする。アミノ酸分子としては、分子サイズ、カルボキシル基の有無およびその数、チオール基の有無、フェニル基の有無などに注目して、興味深いものを選抜して、試験に供する。第一原理計算では、米国ペンシルバニア州立大学と定期的遠隔会議を継続し、国際共著論文の執筆を目指す。
