Outline of Annual Research Achievements

4年目(2022年度)は,秋以降に移動制限が徐々に解除され,国際会議などでの発表や対面での研究議論の機会がようやく復活するモードになった.日本の重力波干渉計KAGRAプロジェクトと,米欧LIGO-Virgoグループとは2023年5月より,第4期観測(O4)を開始することになり,研究代表の真貝は,観測開始時の重力波検出の判定を行う観測シフト体制のまとめ役となって,実観測時の対応や追観測する天文学者への情報公開手順などを取り仕切っている.研究分担者の伊藤は引き続き連続重力波解析のKAGRA側代表として,高橋も引き続き連携コンピューティングのKAGRA側代表として重力波データ解析の要職を務めている.
2022年度は,LIGO-Virgo-KAGRAの共同観測チームとして,第3期観測(O3b)のデータ解析論文を共同執筆し,それらの毎週の議論の場に参加・査読の引き受け・一般向けの要旨(Science Summary)の作成などを精力的に行った.さらに,次期観測に向けての新たなデータ解析の手法の開発を進めた.Hilbert-Huang 変換を用いる重力波抽出法は論文投稿,自己回帰モデルを用いた重力波抽出は学会発表,独立成分解析を用いるノイズ除去などの新たな方法の実用化を進めている.また,アウトリーチについては,O4に向けての情報発信を中心に活動した.
4年目に発表した研究成果は,論文発表18,学会発表15(うち国際学会6),一般向け講演・講義2,図書出版2 (単著1,事典項目1),雑誌執筆1,雑誌編集協力3である.

2: Research has progressed on the whole more than it was originally planned.

Reason

コロナ禍で研究の進捗に若干の遅れはあるものの,米欧LIGO-Virgoグループと日本のKAGRAグループとの共同研究論文執筆は順調に進み,第3期観測期間後半(O3b)のデータ解析については一通り終えた.提案する新手法は,これらの実データへの応用を行い,その論文執筆を進めている.

Strategy for Future Research Activity

重力波の実データ解析を行う環境が整い,最終年度となる2023年度は,それらの実質的な応用とその検証,学会発表や論文執筆へと進める.また,分散コンピューティングを用いたシステムを運用するところまで成し遂げたい.重力波観測が日常的に行われるようになり,データ数も増えてくるので,それに対応する体制も構築することが将来的に必要になる.次の10年を見据えた展開を想定し,続く研究計画を立てていく.
