Outline of Annual Research Achievements

The data collected from writing center tutor interviews and recordings has been analyzed and is in the process of being synthesized with the tutee essays and , interviews and recordings of the writing center tutorials. Abstracts have been sent for peer review for two international conferences and research for possible publications to send a manuscript is in progress. The other aspects of the project have been on hold and possible visits to national and international writing centers will sort.

Current Status of Research Progress
Current Status of Research Progress

4: Progress in research has been delayed.

Reason

COVID 19 has prevented travel to writing centers both in Japan and abroad. Dealing with the increased workload involved with teaching online, and creating and shifting our physical writing center online has also taken a lot of time and focus away from the project.

Strategy for Future Research Activity

I am currently assessing the viability of making in-person trips and visits to the writing centers outlined in my project proposal. I will continue to analyze the data I have collected so far and intend to write it up for publication

Causes of Carryover

Funds remain due to restricted travel during COVID 19. They maybe used to conduct the remainder of my research that was not conducted due to COVID 19. This may involve national and international travel. E.g. Flights, hotel, books, trains, conference costs, sundries. The funds will be used for these purposes if COVID restrictions do not return.
