Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Research on ancient Japanese TORAIJIN(渡来人) has developed as a study of the history of KIKAJIN(帰化人), continuing the problems and concerns of traditional studies of naturalization. What was emphasized here was the construction of a theory of the Japanese people as a national history. The purpose of this study is to overcome national history by conducting research on ancient TORAIJIN with "movement" as the keyword. Through this research, we were able to establish the date of establishment of the concept of "KIKA," which has been disputed, to be in the latter half of the 7th century. We have also clarified that "KIKA" in ancient historical records included many migrants who did not intend to settle in the Japanese archipelago. I believe that I have concretely demonstrated the effectiveness of studying migrant peoples as international migrants.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
