Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
Recognizing the great influence of daily activity on traffic safety, this study aims to clarify how elderly people's traffic accident involvement could be decreased through an interdisciplinary perspective of travel behavior and health care. Based on the nudge theory, the main behavioral contents of elderly people includes three part: 1) daily activity-travel patterns and built environment;2) ownership and usage of AVs; 3) traffic accident involvement.
Following the original research plan, the first half year mainly focus on new data collection. Accordingly, after a careful and detail investigation of existing researches and techniques, a new data set covering more than 90 evidence-based behavior change items from nudge psychology towards safe driving has been obtained for data analysis.

Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
2: Research has progressed on the whole more than it was originally planned.
Reason
In line with the original research plan, task for the first half year of this project is data collection. Accordingly, the researcher has obtained the initial data related to traffic safety and travel mobility. Contents of the data include a series of evidence-based behavior change techniques on people's voluntary behavioral changes towards safe driving based on the nudge theory approach. Detail contents of 16 techniques has been investigated, including goals & planning, feedback & monitoring, social support, shaping knowledge, natural consequences, comparison of behavior, associations, repetition & substitution, comparison of outcomes, reward & threat, regulation, antecedents, identity, scheduled consequences, self-belief, covert learning.

Strategy for Future Research Activity |
Further research work will be conducted from the following two aspects: 1)data processing and analysis of the obtained data with the research question of "what is the relationship between travel pattern, safety attitude, and accident involvement". 2)Future more data collection preparation. Based on the data analysis result and continuous research experience accumulation, more data related to people's travel pattern, health condition, and other related aspects will be further investigated.

Causes of Carryover |
The reason for incurring funds left to be used in the next fiscal year is that this amount of fund has already been scheduled for data purchasing. And due to the processing time required, this part of fund failed be transfered in the fist fiscal year as plan.At the early stage of the next fiscal year, according to the schedule, this incurring amount will be used as schedule: data purchasing for research implementation. In the next fiscal year, more data will be collected for research implementation, and outreach activities will be conducted to share the research result as the original plan.
