Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Detraining reduces mitochondrial content in skeletal muscle. The strategy to suppress detraining-induced mitochondrial reduction has not been yet fully elucidated. We evaluated whether branched-chain amino acid (BCAA) ingestion could have a beneficial impact on detraining-induced mitochondria reduction. Our results suggest that BCAA ingestion suppresses detraining-induced mitochondrial reduction partly through inhibiting mitophagy.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
