Outline of Final Research Achievements

The purpose of this study was to develop an instructional model for the acquisition of thinking skills in physical education, in particular, critical thinking attitudes, and to determine its effectiveness. The results revealed the following. First, as a result of examining the critical thinking attitude scale in physical education classes, a 12-item, three-factor structure consisting of a "multidimensional and logical thinking" factor, a "reflective thinking" factor, and an "objective thinking" factor was revealed. Second, we developed an instructional model for acquiring critical thinking attitude, implemented a 6-hour high jump class for 6th grade elementary school students, and conducted a survey of the critical thinking attitude scale before and after the class to compare the results. The results showed that all factor scores and total scores were significantly higher after the unit than before.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements
