KeywordsEnvironmental Economics / Resource Economics / Dvelopment Economics
Outline of Annual Research Achievements

To achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), governments have committed to promote policies towards a sustainable environment regarding the main determinants of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions. This research project identifies the long-run relationship between air pollution and health impacts in developing countries. This study uses a panel pooled mean group autoregressive distributive lag (PMG-ARDL) model for 58 developing nations from 1990 to 2014. This research shows that to achieve environmental sustainability, air pollution reduction policies need to be more emphasized to mitigate health related problems in least-developed countries.

This research project also use inclusive wealth approach which is increasingly common to measure the sustainable development of the countries. It comprised the natural, human and produced capital of nations to measure social wellbeing. We measure the inclusive wealth of the provinces in China from 2000 to 2015 and reports the sustainable use of the resources. This study identifies that three types of capital have increased to varying degrees, with produced capital increasing by 615.6%, natural capital increasing by 33.8%, and human capital increased by 337.0%. The total amount of inclusive wealth has increased by 300.4% in the past 15 years.

Current Status of Research Progress
Current Status of Research Progress

3: Progress in research has been slightly delayed.

Reason

The emerging infectious disease (COVID-19) impacting adversely on some preplanned research activities. It become challenging to collect the primary data from the study area. As an alternative strategy, I have been using the secondary informations to continue the research.

Strategy for Future Research Activity

In this fiscal year 2020, I am incorporating geographic information system (GIS) based data for analysis. The remote sensing data is an alternative data collection method that I am using under the COVID-19 situation.

Causes of Carryover

This research project need to be extended to complete the necessary data collection and analysis. Due to the COVID-19 spread out, the data collection process was adversely impacted.
