Research Abstract

本年度は、主に、センチメートル級の新規バルク金属ガラスの探査および理論的、計算機科学的アプローチによる研究を遂行した。合金探査の結果、Zr-Cu基合金へのAlとAgの同時添加により、過冷却液体の安定性の向上と換算ガラス化温度およびガラス形成能の指標であるγ値の上昇が認められた。直径15mmのZr-Cu-Ag-Alバルク金属ガラスは、42~50原子%Zr、22~42原子%Cu、5~10原子%Agおよび5~12原子%Alの広い組成範囲で生成することを見出した。ガラス形成能が最も高い合金組成は、Zr_<48>Cu<36>Ag_8Al_8合金であり、このZr_<48>Cu_<36>Ag_8Al_8合金で最大直径25mmまでのバルク金属ガラスが銅鋳型への射出鋳造により得られることが明らかになった。このZr_<48>Cu_<36>Ag_8Al_8バルク金属ガラスは1800MPaの高い破壊強度を示すことが明らかになった。理論的および計算機科学的アプローチによるガラス形成能等の解析の結果、バルク金属ガラスの合金組成および局所原子構造の特長を見出すことに成功した。数学的見地から合金組成の特徴を解析した結果、約12mmに相当する1/2インチ超の臨界直径をもつバルク金属ガラスの合金組成は、黄金分割の値を用いて表現できることを明らかにした。さらに、代表的なバルク金属ガラスの合金組成と理想的な局所原子構造との相関を解析した結果、クラスターで換算し直した場合のクラスター濃度が稠密充填構造の臨界サイトパーコレーション濃度と関係することを見出した。局所原子構造の解析については、代表的なバルクガラス合金系であるZr_<60>Al_<15>(Ni,Cu)_<25>バルク金属ガラスに対して分子動力学シミュレーションを行い、ガーネット構造が理想的な局所原子配列であることを明らかにした。
