Research Abstract

本年度では、以下に示す三項目、すなわち、(1)新規センチメートル級バルク金属ガラスの開発、(2)金属ガラスの局所的秩序の存在の実験的検証および(3)金属ガラスの応用展開の三項目で研究成果を得た。(1)の新規バルク金属ガラス開発では、新規Cu基合金として、Cu47Zr45Al8合金が臨界直径15mm、過冷却液体域80K、換算ガラス化温度0.60の優れたガラス形成能を有していることを明らかにするとともに、高エントロピー合金の合金設計をバルク金属ガラスに導入した新規センチメートル級バルク金属ガラス設計指針を確立した。(2)金属ガラスの局所的秩序の検証では、ナノビーム電子線回折と分子動力学シミュレーションを組み合わせることにより、金属ガラスの原子構造の特性を、これまでになく高い分解能で明らかにすることに成功した。電子光学系の球面収差を補正し、特別に設計した電子ビームコンデンサー絞りを用いることにより、電子ビーム径を約3オングストロームまで小さくして、これまで実証されたなかで最も細いコヒーレント電子ビームを得た。この微量領域電子ビームにより、ビームが格段に細くなったことで、単結晶から得られるものと同様の、はっきりした回折スポットが得られた。さらに、(3)の応用展開では、ハードディスクメディア用超高密度記録媒体の作製および超々精密ギヤードモータの作製に成功した。超高密度記録媒体の作製では、金属ガラスを用いることにより、次世代の高密度磁気記録媒体技術として有力視されるパターンドメディアの作製技術を開発することを目的とする研究を行った。その結果、ドット径9nm、ピッチ18nm(2Tbit/inch^2相当)で1以上の高アスペクト比の金型の作製に成功した。一方、超々精密ギヤードモータの作製では、従来の世界記録にあたる直径1.5mmのマイクロギヤードモータを凌ぐ直径0.9mmのマイクロギヤードモータの作製に成功した。
