Research Abstract

遺伝子発現の根幹である転写・翻訳においてそれぞれ中核的な役割を担う2つの超分子複合体、RNAポリメラーゼおよびリボソームに焦点を当て、転写・翻訳の構造基盤を解明すべく構造生物学研究を行う。主に原核生物(高度好熱菌)の系を用いて、転写や翻訳における様々な状態に相当する複合体の立体構造解析を行い、遺伝子発現の分子メカニズムを解明する。並行して、原核生物とは大きく異なり、かつ複雑な真核生物の翻訳開始に着目し、結晶構造解析に適した試料の調製法を確立して解析を行う。
