Research Abstract

オーストラリア北西部Pilbara地域で採取された、約34.6億年前のチャート及び約32億年前のチャート/縞状鉄鉱層の陸上掘削試料を用いて、太古代の海洋環境(例:酸化還元状態・成層構造・海底熱水活動の影響・海水温度)および微生物生命活動を制約することが、本申請研究の概要である。
本研究は、研究代表者(山口)の従来の共同研究者らが同試料(約34.6億年前のABDPチャート試料)を用いて行った関連研究(Hoashi et al., 2009)がNature Geoscienceに掲載される等、世界の最先端で競争を行っているものである。それと対をなす位置にある本研究の意義は非常に高い。
