Research Abstract |
This research aims at confirming transferred speech rhythm from Japanese and showing the process of changing rhythm patterns from Japanese to English by using PC self-study programs which have been developed by the author. Even though most Japanese spoke English with transferred speech rhythm from Japanese, some of the transferred features of Japanese speech rhythm were decreased gradually as they found the important roles of stressed and unstressed syllables and learned controlling them through PC self-study programs, noticing phonetic features of content or function words and weak or strong forms of function words and other phonetic features.
