Research Abstract

Distyly in Damnacanthus(Rubiaceae) is associated withpoliploidization, and tetraploids do not show distyly. In this study, it was revealed thatdiploid Damnacanthus species whowed self-and intramorphic-incompatibility and tetraploid species had self-compatibility. Phylogenetic analysis of Damnacanthus suggestedmultiple origins of polyploidization within the genus.
