Research Abstract

Land culture of marine fishes leads to create various business chances because of easiness of water quality management and possible reduction of environmental load. However, the scientific backbone is currently very weak. The present study showed that cell adherence in the epithelia of the body surface is important in suppressing water and ion permeability. Our findings imply that the establishment of land culture systems for marine fishes is highly possible through manipulation of cell adherence.
