動物細胞を対象としたセル・エンジニアリング技術をベースとして、細胞レベルでの機能改変からニワトリを対象とした個体再生までをシステム化したセル・エンジニアリングサイクルの構築に取り組む意欲的な提案である。
本研究で目指す新規ホスト細胞の開発、人工遺伝子発現制御、トランスジェニックニワトリの作製やその作製のための初期胚操作技術の開発は学術的な意義が高く、またそれらの検討によって達成を目指すバイオ医薬品、細胞医薬品の効率的生産やコスト削減は、社会に大きなインパクトを与えるものと期待される。
