Outline of Final Research Achievements

This research project aims to construct a theory of virtue epistemology that is theoretically valid and effective in educational practice through close collaboration between philosophers, philosophers of education, and educational practitioners. To achieve the project's objective, the researchers surveyed and discussed related studies and presented their ideas at national and international conferences and workshops. Based on the feedback, they revised their theories and published them as academic articles in national and international journals. They also published a Japanese book, "Philosophy and Education of Virtue: From Theory to Practice, and Applications" (Edited by Koji Tachibana, 2023), for a more general audience.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

本プロジェクトで得られた意義として、（１）徳について日本の観点から考察することで認識論的に新たな視座を与えた点、また、（２）哲学者・教育哲学者・教育実践者が密な共同研究を行うことで、専門家向けにも一般向けにも豊かな成果を挙げられることを実際に示した点に、学術的な意義がある。他方で、（３）徳という複雑な概念を用いながらも、フィールドとアプローチを明確にすることで現実社会（本プロジェクトの場合は学校教育）を新たな角度から分析することができることを示し、現実を再考しより良くするための一助となったという点に、社会的意義がある。
