Outline of Annual Research Achievements

フラクチャード強誘電体と呼称することにした,BaTiO3- BiFeO3をベースとする環境に配慮した鉛を含まない圧電材料BaTiO3-Bi(Mg1/2Ti1/2)O3-BiFeO3 (BT-BMT-BF)が,一見して立方晶に見えるにもかかわらず,現在最もよく使用されている鉛を含む圧電材料Pb(Zr, Ti)O3 (PZT)に匹敵する圧電特性をもつ仕組みを,放射光単結晶X線回折実験によるDC電場印加下での結晶構造解析と,AC電場印加下での時分割結晶構造解析により解明することが本研究の目的である.
令和4年度では,約100 Hzから70k Hzまでの幅広いAC周波数帯で,放射光X線回折実験による電場印加下時分割構造解析を行うための計測システムを構築し,SPring-8のBL02B1単結晶構造解析ビームラインに導入した.この計測システムを用いて,AC電場下時分割Ⅹ線構造解析を行った.実験試料については,小さいながら良質で圧電性能に優れる0.2 mm程度の単結晶0.3BT-0.1BMT-0.6BFを育成することに成功し,電極を特定の結晶面に取り付け電場印加下Ⅹ線構造解析用試料に加工するノウハウを習得した.時分割実験の結果,孤立電子対をもつBi系やPb系の強誘電体によくみられる誘電緩和の本質と関連付けられる結晶構造のAC周波数依存を明らかにすることができた.現在,解析をほぼ終了し,論文公表する準備を行っている.
一方,この系においては,電場印加方向にオフセンターしたBiイオンがナノドメインを形成すること,そしてそのナノドメインの再配列が優れた圧電特性に大きく寄与することを見出した.この成果は注目され,材料分野で著名な国際誌で報告され,プレス発表も行った.また,国際会議で招待講演を行った.
