During AY2023, I have continued collecting and analyzing sources, while completing the book manuscript, which is the main outcome of this project, to a university press for review. As of April 2024, the review process is still ongoing. Furthermore, I have given a presentation on my research at an academic workshop at Tohoku University in July 2023.
My research has revealed a growing rift between intellectual conservatism and political conservative forces since the end of the Cold War, which ironically has occurred despite right-ward shifts in politics. While segments of intellectual conservatism have kept close relationships with/influences on their political allies, esp. in the US and Japan, this study also has revealed various frictions between the two, notably during the past 2 decades.
